April showers...

...Bring May flowers! ...and that's this month's challenge at the Crafter's Companion USA challenge blog :) I'm very happy to be guest designer this month and here is the project I am sharing with you. It started with an idea...I love my yard when it rains. First, let me tell you, I live in Los Angeles, Ca...it doesn't rain as much here as in other parts of the country. It's wonderful when it does rain and I get to stay home the entire day! I have a sliding door and I love to watch the rain soak the yard. I've been wanting to do a page about it for a long time, but the inspiration was never there. When I was thinking about a project for the challenge, I looked at my CC stamps and this one just inspired me! It's called After the Rain . Here's is how my project came together: I chose a background paper and coated some of it with gesso. I used an old giftcard to spread it around:   Another coat of gesso, and I stamped the image whe

Mummy Beautiful

Are you all done with your mother's day cards? I'm almost done. I've only got one more card left to make. Here is the card I'm sending to my mom this year. I won this stamp at the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog last month.   I was so happy! So I got to work...  Isn't this image so sweet?!  I colored it similar to the package because I like the colors together. I also use the stamp's packaging as a guide to help me color in the light and dark areas.  I like coloring on kraft, but I was itching to do it again since last month's guest designer Alissa Wells  made a video about it  :)   The papers are Bella Blvd Plastino collection.  I know, these bright papers with kraft don't necessarily 'match', but I like the contrast ;) I'm entering this in this month's challenge May Flowers . The prize this month is an ultimate tool! How exciting! Fingers crossed! :)

Bella Blvd Warehouse Sale Box...The Movie ;)

Image
Hello everyone! If you've followed me for a while, you know I buy the Maya Road warehouse sale box every time they have it. I personally think its a great deal because I do like to make mini albums and MR has adorable embellishments and stamps. This time,   Bella Blvd  had a warehouse sale, so I decided to give it a try. The box was about $45 with shipping (about the same price as MR). I didn't get as much of the embellishments and stamps, like I hoped, but I got lots of paper. Which I guess makes sense since they do paper primarily. Either way I liked what I got and can't wait to play with it! Hey, I need some paper for all those MR mini albums I've got! This Bella Blvd box was a good deal. However, I don't think I would buy it again (I've got so much paper already!). These boxes are all sold out now, but I hope this video gives you an idea of what you can expect if they have this sale again. I got 48 pieces of paper total, 16 of them double sided (a

Fabric yo yo flowers and sneak peek

I am thrilled to be guest designer for Crafter's Companion USA challenge blog ! This month's challenge is May Flowers . I'm going to show you how to make fabric yo yo flowers so you can add them to your creations. It's very simple and they are beautiful! Here's a peek of my project: Here is how I made my fabric yo yo flowers:  I cut a square, that was about 4x4: I folded it in half and then in half again:  Holding it with the open sides up, I cut from the bottom right corner to the upper left corner: When I opened it, I had a circle: Then I stitched close to the edge, as evenly as I could:  Then I pulled the thread: Flattened and adjusted it the way I like it. Then secure it with a knot: It turned out about 2 in. Half the size of the square.   For my project I wanted colors I didn't have, so I misted some white fabric circles: I used Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in Sunflower, Waterslide
