My Favorite Color Is Purple

Image
I find I don't use much purple in my scrapbooking.  Not sure why. Maybe its a lack of cute purple supplies?   That's why this stack makes me happy:    The colors are just BEAUTIFUL! I think I have a new  another favorite :) We had to stop and snap a picture of this beautiful rainbow while walking around Central Park in NY.  Not much journaling needed here. There's no story, it's just one of those moments that get stuck in your memory and deserve to be scrapped. After all, this might have been a once in a lifetime view for me :)     The beautiful gold in these papers is just lovely.  I used the Luxe rub-ons here and the Uncharted Waters gold alphas. Once I had these papers out, I decided to upcycle a used thread spool and turn it into a pin cushion. Now that I can display my pins, maybe I'll remember to use them, huh?  and I'll have a pop of purple in my craft room :)

So Happy Here

Vacations are usually exhausting.  It's rare for us to get a picture where we look happy and relaxed.  This is one of those rare moments :)   Paper- DCWV Sweet Blossom stack  Wood Veneer- Studio Calico & Freckled Fawn  Washi- Bella Blvd, Glitz, Freckled Fawn  Flair- Paper Bakery

All About the Journaling

Turkey was the biggest surprise in the Mediterranean cruise my husband and I took 2 years ago. I thought I wasn't going to like it as much as other more 'famous' places like Athens or Venice. However, Turkey had the nicest, most polite and respectful people. Istanbul and Kusadasi  were the cleanest and most friendly of all our stops.  It was funny because a year later my husband and I were trying to get a group picture in times square in New York and even though there were many, many people all around us, only one person offered to help us get a picture. He was Turkish. Anyway...back to the story here. My husband and I were walking out of the port in Istanbul and we weren't really sure how to get to the tram stop, but we knew it was walking distance. So we just started walking, we noticed we were being followed so my husband turned around to look. It was an older man, he smiled and told my husband "yeah, I'm following you. I wasn't sure which way t

100 Days of Tombow!

Image
To celebrate their centennial, Tombow is donating $10,000 in product to the  Council for Arts Education . Tombow will donate $100 for each of the 100 participating bloggers. This cause is especially important to me :) You all know me as a crafter and today I want to share with you that I am also an educator . I hold an M.A degree in Early Childhood Education and I'm a preschool teacher. Through out my schooling and career, I have been an advocate for arts education. My passion is color . I teach through my passion and my classroom is full of paint and color. When Tombow asked me to participate in their 100 Day program benefitting the Council for Arts Education , it was a great fit! As a scrapbooker I am inspired by many things, photographs, stories, products or a combination of these.  When Tombow sent me this:    I was inspired by the calm colors of the pencils. I grabbed a sheet of cardstock and started to color inside the circles of a misting mask.  Having

Don't Hide the Gift In a Box!

Image
I made a card and bracelet for my friend. I realized the scalloped edge of the card would be perfect for holding on to the bracelet. I love to display a gift when I can instead of boxing it up. Although decorating the box can be fun too :) In this case, the gift was easy to display!  The bracelet is very simple to make. It's 3 lengths of chain with ribbon woven through one of the chain segments. The 3 segments are connected with a jump ring on each end and the closure is added to the jump rings as well.  I had no idea how to make the ribbon stay, so I sewed it using gold thread on each end and added some clear polish to the ends. Please let me know if you have a better way to make ribbon stay on a jewelry project :)  Hope you're having a lovely weekend! A couple more Dear Lizzy LO's

Image
Mixing up Dear Lizzy Neapolitan and Lucky charm collections trying to use up some of my stash :)    I entered this one in the Glitter Girl challenge for last week "Title free tales."  I did it just for fun and I didn't feel I needed a title or journaling. There's no particular story to tell. Below the photo I wrote 'Exploring Mykonos, Greece' and stamped the date.    On the other hand this one's got both...   Can you spot the Pelican?  He says 'hello' :)  The banner paper reminded me so much of this little town because it was just as beautiful and colorful and that's not represented in these pictures.  I'm currently on Spring Break, so I want this week to slow down!  Hope you're enjoying your week :)

I couldn't resist!!!

I Just HAD to title this "Must Lean On Me" and tilt that A.  And you wouldn't believe what song started playing on Pandora  as I placed the title on the page... yup... 'Lean On Me'  It was SO freaky!   I titled it this way because our guide told us 'come on' take that picture that  everyone has to take when they visit. Pretend you're holding up the tower.  So we listened and we did. It was tricky with so many, so many people around.  I used this sketch which is the stack-a-holic challenge for April at DCWV .  I made my circles with twine using these adhesive dots   and some household items to wind the twine around.  Oh yes, this is The Fiesta stack from Joann's. Hope you join the challenge this month :)
