That's when the best things happen. When you're curious and willling to explore.  We were walking around exploring when went up these stairs and found a great view :)    I've been wanting to scrap these pictures for a while but the LO didn't seem to come together.  The other day, it finally did!  I might have to credit Shimelle's collection for helping to finally get this story on the page :) I have her collection out on my desk right now along with Crate Paper's Notes and Things and MME Market Street Ashbury Heights.  What supplies are you loving right now?

Do you use hashtags?  I don't use them at all in social media.  I got this ephemera pack from My Mind's Eye Market Street and there were some hashtag phrases in there. I thought I would never use them. Then I thought about how representative hasthags are for our society right now. I decided it would be great to use them on LO's I do about my daughter. This one is from her 3D ultrasound. Can't wait to see what she really looks like!     I also got the idea to make her a page of current events for 2014. Someday, she can read about what the world was like the year she was born.   I used Crate Paper's Notes and Things and the hashtag from MME Market Street.  I'm playing along with the monthly  sketch challenge at My Scraps and More.  

There are things that just make you smile and laugh.  These are just 2 of those things that have made me smile lately.  One is my shadow. It has definitely changed a lot.  The second is a drawing of me done by a student a couple months ago in June. This is a very accurate depiction of me as drawn by a 4 year old boy.  LOL  Let me just say he drew this while laughing out loud himself.  He was actually very happy and proud of his drawing and I definitely treasure it.    I used the beautiful Melon Twist stack out at Hobby Lobby. I'm loving the colors in this stack... I might be a bit obsessed with it. What has made YOU smile lately? 

While my husband was on a business trip in Italy, he would call me late at night because that was his early morning. He would go on early morning walks around the hiking paths of the small town.  One day he actually asked me to find him on google maps! How?! I had no idea how to find him. I knew the general area where he was. But it's a big area with hiking paths that are NOT on maps.  He told me about some landmarks and the general direction he took and I was actually able to help him head back to town!  He got lucky!  I'm usually horrible at anything to do with directions.  This is the Weekend Neutrals Stack 

I can't believe summer is almost over! I love summer!  I'm a teacher, so I appreciate the extra 'me' time in the summer.  Today, I have a post up on the DCWV Blog .   I made these hanging pockets as a teacher gift but they can really be used for anyone you think would appreciate them.    You can even include a little gift in one of the pockets:  I included a chalk marker and a starbucks card.    The black stripe on top is a piece of the chalkboard stack. It works like real chalkboard and it wipes clean so you can label the contents of each pocket. To cut burlap paper straight, I use a paper cutter on the back (paper) side  then I use scissors on the same cut line.    My pockets measure 6"x6.5" total. You can make 2 pockets with one 12x12 sheet.  I cut the sheet of burlap in half, then I fold it to the dimensions above. But the burlap part on the front measures 6"x5.5" That means ...

I printed the photo on this LO years ago but wasn't sure how to scrap the very simple but cute story I wanted to tell. So it's been siting in one of my photo boxes for years.  That changed yesterday when I got my order of Shimelle's new line.    That "I think I'll stop here" die cut piece sparked something in me and brought this photo to mind again. The story behind the photo:  I was just exhausted after walking around Rome all day. I decided to sit on this corner of a building and my husband decided to take a picture and named it  'Karla's Corner' for some reason. He says it's because I just kinda claimed it...maybe I sat down with aruthority? LOL Who knows! We returned to the same spot a few times and if I didn't sit down, he would ask, 'Aren't you gonna sit in your corner?!'  I used the sketch of the month over at My Scraps and More  so I'm going to enter it into their monthly sketch challen...

I've been wanting to do a page using numbers to document things that are interesting to me about my life. Sort of a 'My Life Right Now' page.  I really liked these shots my husband took, and I thought they would be perfect for a page about life today.    I was also inspired by 'Grammar Free Journaling' which is a class I'm taking over at Big Picture Classes. Here's a close up of the journaling:    My handwriting is not the neatest of prettiest but it's mine...so I just write and try not to worry too much about how it looks.   I used My Mind's Eye Market Street Ashbury Heights and a variety of thickers and letter stickers.

I had so much fun layering and clustering on this LO on such a busy background paper. I really liked the way the paper looked with the pictures but knew the embellishment part would be challenging.  I'm happy with the results and glad that I didn't give up on the (self-imposed) challenge.    I really liked the layout of this page, so I thought I would use it again in a similar way...   Turned out kind of like a mirror image.  I was inspired to use single sentences as my journaling from 'Grammar Free Journaling' which is the class I'm taking over at Big Picture Classes.   I used My Mind's Eye Market Street Ashbury Heights and the ampersand paper is Crate Paper Notes and Things. 

I can't believe we're already in August!  It'll be fall before you know it! I'm definitely ready for cooler weather :)  Every month, there's a sketch challenge over at the DCWV Blog . You get almost the entire month to play along and of course there are prizes!Winners are randomly drawn from the top 10-15 entries. Everyone that enters really has a chance to be in the top 10. The only requirement is that you use a DCWV stack and that you use the sketch as inspiration. Here's my take on the sketches this month:      I used the Melon Twist stack which is out at Hobby Lobby.  I hope you get to play along.
