I got one of those plastic, hollow half pumpkins at Michaels and I knew I wanted to make a decoration for fall, I didn't know exactly what I was going to make, but I knew I wanted it to light up. That part of crafting is so much fun! Knowing that you want to work with something without having every detail planned.  I designed the cut file with the brother ScanNCut Canvas online tool. I used some fonts and shapes provided as well as some files designed by Wilna Furstenberg .  I cut it on to a gold paper from the DCWV Mercury glass stack and backed it with a brown orange tinted vellum from the DCWV Premium 5 Pack papers.  I used a doily as a guide and layered leaves all around the edge. there is a mix of 99 cent store leaves, DCWV DIY Project pack of leaves and I tucked in some of the mercury glass cuts.  Since I wanted my pumpkin lantern to light up, I placed 3 LED tealights inside but I needed a way to take them in and out to turn them o...

Have you seen the new Mercury Glass stacks that are out at AC Moore? The paper is so beautiful and it makes anything extra special. I cut this simple bell and sentiment with my Scan N Cut. The mercury glass paper cut beautifully in my machine. I like that it actually looks like glass. I added a ribbon bow on top of the paper bow and there is something very pleasing about the contrast of the textures. These ornaments are very easy to make. I used a cut file from SVG attic . However, ornaments like this can be made with any cut file or shape that you can fold in half easily. I cut 4 of the present and 8 snowflakes.  I folded the cut ornaments in half and adhered them to each other one half at a time so that one half of the last ornament would be glued to one half of the first ornament.  These are so simple, but the mercury glass paper makes them look way more special! DCWV and the Ribbon Resource (May Arts ribbon) are teaming up for a Blog Hop full of Holiday Craft ideas.  This Christmas I have a very curious and mobile toddler, so I'm already starting to make ornaments that are not breakable. In case she gets to them, which is guaranteed to happen.  Look at how beautifully that white paper shines when it catches the light! I used the patterns and paper from the DIY Ornaments stack. The ornaments stack also includes die cut snowflakes that are super easy to put together.  The gold and red papers are from the Christmas DIY Favor Boxes project stack.  The trees in the background come in the Winter Village stack. I scanned the patterns into my ScanNcut and then used my Scor-pal to score the patterns as indicated.
