Twelve days of Fluffmas questions

I discovered Stampin FluffnStuff not too long ago and have since been reading it and having a laugh or two. I have slowly gotten to read more and more about Faye and her fabulous cards. I really enjoy the way Faye writes and in my opinion, she should have considered a career in writing at some point in her life ;) So when she posted this candy with " a Fluffy twist " I knew I wanted to take part. If you've never visited her, go and get to know her too. It's always fun :) 1. How old is Sweet Cheeks?                    2 years old 2. What is the name of my Mum's Blog?                     It's an alien life http://itsanalienlife.blogspot.com/ 3. What are my favourite colours? (Clue; they're not what you might think they are!)         ...

For a special little boy

Image
I made this for my little nephew who is expected to arrive soon and is actually way past his due date. I would like this to be used for his first picture. I'm putting it in a scrapbook frame to keep the dust out and prevent any of those little pieces from falling off. I hope my sister in law likes it. I made most of the flowers myself using felt, tulle, paper, string, rhinestones and pearls. I cut the tigger out of a piece of fabric with scenes from the classic winnie the pooh. The frame on the central piece of paper is actually a woven ribbon glued on with glue lines :) I would like to enter this for the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge #73 Embellish it! I think this is very fitting, talk about embellishing, Lol! Happy Holidays, Everyone!

Entry for The Paper Variety Challenge Week 14

Image
The photo inspiration for this week was so cute! I would have jumped on it to do a page about my dogs, but I had to make a giftcard holder for our secret santa at work and I was inspired by the photo's beautiful colors. I've been craving layers lately so I combined the two and this is what I came up with: The gift card is taped onto the ribbon so it can be pulled out easily. Oh, did I mention they are giving away a mitten weather mini deck on Tuesday to one lucky person? go play! So sad that   the paper variety will be off for 2 weeks :(  but I do hope the girls enjoy their vacation ;)

Candy arrived!

Image
Last Friday I won candy from Karen at Chidscrafts http://www.chidscrafts.com/  she has really great tutorials and ideas at her blog. Go check it out, right now! ok, maybe right after the rest of this post... :) This is the very cute candy I got in the mail today, I was so excited!: I know my messy desk doesn't do it justice, it really is wonderful candy. I LOVE ribbon and these ribbons are so awesome and have so much texture. I have big plans for the chalk! I'm not sure what I'm going to make with the album yet...I'm thinking a heritage album about my childhood. Thanks so much Karen!

Baby shower card

Image
After my first easel card, I was hooked! I had to try again, so I made this baby shower card for my sister in law. I used the summer dream double sided stack from DCWV, it's on clearance, unfortunately (fortunately for you, if you find one!). It's beautiful! I hope they do another double sided stack soon :) I didn't use an envelope, I tied it with a few ribbons. I used a tutorial to learn how to make easel cards. Here's the link http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/                School is over for now, and I'm so glad to get back to crafting! :)

Rex

Image
So way back in june I started this project, but I didn't get around to finishing it because I was looking for a smaller nose that looked more like a dog nose Well, I never found it, but this is for my friend and she needed it. So I gave up looking and made it with what I had. I like it, it looks ok with the nose I had. I changed the eyes to a brown/black combo. This is how he begun.            Meet Rex :)

WoW! 70 and still going strong, that's gotta feel great! Thank you Julia for this wonderful cure to the mid-week slump! In case you don't know, WOYWW is the day when we crafters get to take a snoop at each other's desks and get some tips, ideas from each other. If you want to see some more desks go over to Julia's blog . Ok, so I did a lot of complaining last week about not having time to craft. I found out that it's true, but it's not so bad. I still get a little in here and there! I did manage to do a layout last week. Look for it in my previous post if you're interested. So here's what my desk looks like today. I'm showing off some stash I got at Michael's and Marshall's. I also started working on a layout with some of the new paper, so you can see what I'm thinking about doing here. If you want to put it your 5cents that's great :) Ok, so what do we have going on here? There's some of the pictures for the LO I'm pl...

Quick and simple

Image
Yay! I found some time to craft! Here's a quick layout I made for the paper varitey's challenge . "The sky's the limit" was the theme! I couldn't resist using my new birdie papers from DCWV's amber autumn value stack. It has really beautiful designs!  Here's my entry: It's a photo of my husand and I at the top of Echo mountain after having hiked for about 3.5 hours! We were tired but we made it to the top! ...and back (another 3.5 hours!) The photo looks a bit darker in this picture for some reason! It looks much better in real life. The journaling is all over the page, I had so much to say about this wonderful place.

I'm posting this very late on tuesday evening (11pm to be exact!) because I can't post wednesday, my desk won't change at all, I don't want to miss out on WOYWW and because in UK time, it's wednesday already! I hope none of you mind :) I'm very sad this week. There is no crafty stuff on my desk so I will show you where I keep more of my stash. With work and school, I haven't had time for anything fun lately. School just started again this week and after going to class I can forsee that I will have a lot less time to create :( Just in case you're wondering, I'm working on my Master's degree in Early Education. Somewhere, I'm going to have to find time for crafting. If any of you out there have extra time, please send it this way. Lol, I'm sure none of you do, but I dare to dream! Here's my desk: I have my books and papers from school. No crafty messes today :( So I will show you more of my storage area. This shelf is behind my d...

Larger than life

Image
This is my entry for the Paper Variety challenge. This week it's a recipe challenge This was my first recipe challenge and it was really fun! The movie title was already right in the picture. 'Larger than Life' is what they call the Yukon forest between Alaska and Canada. It's the most beautiful and interesting place I've ever been. There are lakes where the water is 2 different shades of blue, a dwarf forest, mountain goats and waterfalls, so many waterfalls! It's the greates place on earth for me. 'Larger than life' is also the title of a movie from way back in '96. When I was looking through my pictures to scrapbook, I saw the one of the Yukon sign and it just came to me 'hey, that's a movie too!'   I found my backgroung page in the DCWV Taj Mahal stack. I used some prima flowers and a chipboard button I bought a really long time ago in a 99cent package of chipboard shapes. I like good deals! I did my journaling in the middle ...

The cream in my coffee

Image
I think the inspiration fairy was around tonight, as I managed to finish my LO! I used the black currant stack by DCWV. I've mentioned before, I love the colors and patterns on these papers! Don't you just want to reach through the screen and touch them?! The title is a stamp from the 'coffe cake' set by TCP studios. It reads 'you're the cream in my coffee.' The cups, muffins and coffee beans are dazzles by paperwishes. I found these cool swirls with black rhinestone accents at michaels for 99cents! As soon as I saw them, I thought of my black currant papers and bought a few packs. They look so good together. I'm happy with the way the LO turned out, it's just what I had in mind!  Thanks for looking :)

Hello Everyone! I can't believe it's Wednesday again, time is flying by so fast! I'd like to show you some more of my crafting space this week. I share the room with the hubby, so I only get half of it but I guess it's better than nothing! Here you can see my shelves to the left I'm still moving stuff around. I don't think I've made the best use of the space I have. I just got this flower area put together last weekend. I'm so excited! I love flowers. The basket on the right has border punches and wood stamps but I don't like my stamps in the basket...any ideas on how else to store them in the shelf? The magazine files next to the  basket have acrylic stamp sets inside. I made the files out of cereal boxes and covered them with leftover shelf liner. Here's a close up of what's on my desk: I've been working on this page about coffee....as many of you know, I'm a big fan. So often there are pictures of me and hubby drinking j...

Mobile blogging

Image
I've set up mobile posting. I hope it works fine. Now I can catch you guys up on anything interesting or post in a jiffy! This is a test post. Just trying it out :) Enjoy the picture! I took it this summer. Can you spot the cool little rainbow? It hasn't even rained in a while. What a nice surprise!

LoVe Layout

Image
Hello! This is my page for The Paper Variety 's first challenge. They're a cool new weekly challenge blog with prizes and lots of other cool features. Make sure to check them out! This week it's a sketch challenge and it's a really good one that makes for an interesting layout and can be used for cards also. The picture in my LO is one DH and I took in Bordeaux on our recent trip to France. I loved the colored lighting by the street lamps as well as the view. It's not too clear in this picture, but it's the view of the Garonne river bridge lit up. We put the camera on the step behind us and hugged, it was the first time we've taken a picture from the back. It turned out interesting! (Sorry about the crooked pic, it's been a crazy weekend so far!)   Here's the sketch: I hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

A card for Spyder's Didi Digi Challenge

Image
This card is for a challenge over at spyder's corner . I got this cool digi after participating in her last challenge :) Thanks Lyn! The yellow roses are from my new stash that was on my desk on my last post , they're from Michaels. The scalloped circle is actually the packaging for some paper flowers I bought at Target years ago. I traced it and cut it out, nothing fancy there! The mouse is colored with the new markers that were on my desk wednesday too. I used the blender pen to fill in the mouse and the paper got all scratched up and linty, but I liked it because it made him look fuzzy. The background is colored with chalk inks and I inked all the edges brown. The ribbon on the edge actually works as a tie to keep the card closed. Although I decided to make a thank you card, I think this mouse is so versatile and can be used with many sentiments. It occurs to me he or she? would make a very cute 'just for you' image on a card or even an 'I'm sorry' one.....

Hello WOYWWers! Here's what's on my desk today...actually I took the pictures last night (Shhh!). To all of you who were green with envy over my clean desk- let's all go be jealous of someone else's clean desk this week! I have a cold and have been feeling horrible since sunday night. I haven't done anything else since then. I haven't even wanted to tidy up my desk. The sewing machine and thread have been there since the weekend when I was working on that harvest card on the left. The flowers and markers are new stash that I bought on tuesday....Shopping is the best medicine! lol. I finished the harvest card on monday. It will go to my sister sometime soon. She celebrates the harvest and not halloween. It's my first easel card! Here's a close up: I decided to show a little more this week....this is what's under my desk: On the far left I store my canvases and my 12x12 folder for storing big sticker sheets and such. Then we have that ...

Perfect pear page

Image
I had some pear paper, came accross a pear stamp and decided it was too much coincidence! I chose a  picture I love and here's what I came up with. The color of the background paper was a little dark and distressed so I used a black and white picture and distressed a lot of the elements on the page. It was missing a little something, so I took out my little sewing machine and sewed on some strips of fabric. I gathered them as I went and I'm happy with how it turned out. I can't believe I had this little machine way in the back of my shelf gathering dust! I think there will be more stitching in my projects from now on! The picture is from our recent trip to france. We were in bordeaux standing close the the mirroir d'eau. It was raining that day so we decided to take b&w pictures. lol my journaling is so crooked! I need to work on that! I used perfect pearl powders on the small pears as well as the pear images on the paper. In real life, they have a s...

Christmas card challenge #40

Image
Wow, I'm so glad to be able to get back to christmas card challenges! I try to join in at least once a month, but lately I haven't been in a very christmassy mood. Last night, I finally got some christmas inspiration and  made this for the clean and simple challenge: I used perfect pearl powders to make the paper shiny. The sentiment is a stamped image that I cut out and the ornament is a Dazzle from paperwishes. It was a quick card too, about 20 minutes, love that!

I find myself looking forward to wednesdays so I can have a peek at what's going on on people's desk around the world! It certainly helps to have something fun to look forward to in the middle of the work week! Thanks Julia, you're a genious! Here's what's on my desk today: I finished the accordion album I was working on for my friend. It goes in this little tin can, which I managed to finish too! yay! Let's see....what else is on my desk?...Oh, my new martha stewart circle cutter, which I was trying out last night. So far it's working pretty good. The little pink container next to the green bucket wasn't visible before but it holds odds and ends like pieces of ribbon and die cuts I changed my mind about and didn't use. My starbucks cup got a new sleeve and that's it  today because I cleaned up my desk after I finished my project!   So here's the trick behind my mp3 player starbucks cup: It's called MAI coffee speaker and you plug...

A Card for Spyder's House Mouse Challenge

Image
So here's what I did with the digi image that was on my desk yesterday. I really enjoyed coloring this image. I used markers, colored pencils, chalk inks and perfect pearl powders. In person, you can see that the mushroom top and the little mouse have a pearly glow. I had a lot of fun making this card and I think it's just perfect for my friend's little daughter. I haven't seen her in a while and since she's reading now, I think she'll enjoy getting a card in the mail. This card is also for Spyder's House Mouse Challenge, if you want to get in on it, go over to her blog: http://spyder-spyderscorner.blogspot.com/2010/08/spyders-house-mouse-challenge.html    Have a great rest of the week!

Here's what's on my desk today: Today I'm working on coloring a digi stamp I got at http://spyder-spyderscorner.blogspot.com/ It's a little mushroom house for a mouse. It's too cute! I'm gonna try to make it shimmery with some perfect pearl powder! I have a jar to stash my chocolates now. That way I don't have to stare at them all the time. and the starbucks cup is not really coffee, it's my mp3 player in disguise! Clever, huh?! Oh..next to the digi stamp I have some dazzle stickers from paper wishes! beautiful, I just want to keep looking at them! Now I'm off to see your workdesk!...
Image
What's on your workdesk Wednesday? http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2010/08/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-64.html This is what's on my desk today. I've been working on an accordion book for a friend. She was kind enough to show us around on our recent trip to France. She asked me to send her the pictures we took together, so I'm sending her this little book of our travels together too. Hope she likes it! What's on your workdesk today?

Um....$5 for a cardboard magazine holder?!!! I don't think so...

Image
This last weekend I went looking for magazine holders. I never really bought new ones. They just somehow ened up at my place...I suspect my husband had them before we got married. Anyway...I saw the price and I said...uh, no! I can make that for free! So I made this one: I used a cereal box and some shelf liner my friend gave me, I really like the pattern! I lined the inside with sturdy cardboard, cause the cereal boxes are kinda flimsy. I also lined the inside with more shelf liner to make it look more finished. It didn't take any time at all. probably half an hour or less. oh the starbucks cup to the left is not really coffee. It's my mp3 player! : ) Here it is full of magazines: I love it and I'm making more to hold my big sets of acrylic stamps. Come to think of it....I can make mini ones for my little dollar acrylic stamps....hmm....  I'm going to try and scrapbook on the next ones. Maybe add some flowers and ribbons, some tags for labeling. ...

Blog candy

Image
oh my!  How generous! Amy is giving away 1000 sheets of paper and some stamps. Check out her blog: http://athousandsheetsofpaper.blogspot.com/2010/08/1000-sheets-for-thousand-sheets.html Very cool of her, isn't it?

what happened to the bookshelf? and quick candy bar covers

Image
So here's what I did with the bookshelf: I used some of the sticky wall paper to cover the shelves and the front trim. Some of my scrappy things will be on the third and 4th shelves. As you can see I haven't finished reorganizing yet... A quick project: I made these wrappers for candy bars to thank my friends who helped me out with this bookshelf. I wanted to give them a little something...They love chocolate (who doesn't?). So I made it a little more personal. I made the wrappers using DCWV's paper stacks 6 and 7. I love these stacks so many papers in one stack with so many different themes and designs! I also used prima flowers and a star stamp. I made the wrapper on the left more 3D by cutting out coordinating designs from another piece of paper and sticking them on with foam dots. The text is done on the computer. Hope you're having a wonderful day :)

Blank Canvas

Image
So we needed another bookshelf because the ones we have right now are getting pretty full. Plus I wanted a place to put some baskets that can hold some of my scrapbooking things. I looked at a whole bunch of stores and finally I decided to give craigslist a try. I found one, and got it for $25! It needed a lot of cleaning but it was worth it. Now I can feel free to play with it as much as I want. The original plan was to cover one side of it with cork and maybe put some thin molding around it to make my own frame for the board. Now I'm thinking about stenciling some nice black scroll or swirl designs all over.  Here's the bookshelf all cleaned up! Then a friend gave me this beautiful shelf liner... What to do?....what to do?.... All I know is that it's so much fun to have such a big blank canvas to work with! Don't you just love that feeling?!
