Friend Friday with DCWV and Chameleon

Hello! Welcome to Friend Friday! We've teamed up with our friends at Chameleon for blog hops and giveaways the first 3 Fridays of this month.

For my project I decided to use one of my favorite DCWV stacks: Jet Black

Jet Black is black and white with gloss resist and includes a couple solid glitter pages.
I love it because I can use it as is or change it by adding color.

These Chameleon pens were perfect for adding just the right amount of color to my layout:

I started this layout by choosing a photo that I really love but have had a hard time scrapping.
The photo is a bit grainy and it's been hard to find papers that match the photo, story and mood.

I picked my favorite journaling cards and started coloring them. I decided to go with an ombre effect by touching the tip of the marker to the mixing chamber for 5 seconds and using the lightest tone in the middle of the cricles and larger flowers.

I played around with my photo and the papers until I was happy with the basic layout. Then,
I cut the circles journaling card in half and had it stretch across my layout behind the photo and other cards to create the illusion of a larger piece of paper.

The word 'Today' and some of the words in the background are colored using an ombre effect as well. I used the lightest tone on the bottom of the letters and the darker tones towards the top. This adds just a little more interest :)

I added my embellishments and used the black Chameleon marker to outline around the hearts paper. I used the mixing chamber to have my outline vary in tone from gray to black. I like the slightly imperfect, distressed look that it gives the layout.

I was beyond excited to get to play with Chameleon pens. I love the concept because I love getting different tones with just one marker. There is definitely a learning curve and I practiced on coloring pages until I felt confident in my ability to use the markers effectively. I also watched Chameleon's youtube videos on their website. I think it's well worth it to educate yourself on how to properly use these markers to get the most out of them. But they are definitely well worth it!

Enjoy the blog hop and good luck winning those prizes!!!
