DCWV Petal Paper Twine

Image
Hello! I got to play with some DCWV Petal Paper and I was so surprised to learn that paper twine is super easy to make. I cut an 1" x 36" strip of petal paper and attached it to my Sizzix Twist and Style as if it was twine. I turned the handle and pulled lightly. It works best with some tension. It takes a little while to begin seeing the results but keep turning and adding tension until you get an even twist.     I added some leaves and flowers to my twine...    Just for fun, I tried twisting 2 colors of paper.  This would be really fun for gift wrapping.  Thanks for stopping by!  💜💜💜

I Heart Crafting Banner

Image
This month's Emma Jewell Crafts box was loaded with goodies about the love of crafting.  There were a few really fun pieces like pom poms, sequins, clothespins, and a 'craft addict' pin. I turned these items into a place to hang my daughters drawings and crafty projects.   I used twine and a yarn needle to thread   pom poms and sequins. Then, I clipped on the clothespins and used them to hang the big card that comes in the box as well as the pin and my daughter's recent drawings. She made a couple rainbows and cut them out. She loves crafting and color, just like me!  Hope you make something fun with your Emma Jewell Crafts Box! Leave me a comment so I can see what you've made :)

Real girls use glue guns scrapbook layout

Image
Hello! This month's Emma Jewell Crafts box is full of colorful elements that are perfect for celebrating our crafting hobby. I created this layout using the paper, stickers, tape, journaling cards, sequins, and even the bag they came in! It was my first time using the adhesives in the box and I really liked them. Especially the liquid glue. It dries clear and adheres quickly. The photos are of my daughter and her craft projects at school. She was so excited to use hot glue for the first time. Don't be alarmed, they have a special glove and the teachers help. In this layout, I'm celebrating her creations and her love of crafting. I used the holographic tape and the bag as a mat for my photos and I love the way these bright layers show case the photos. The contents of this box worked seamlessly with my current scrapbooking supply stash. That's always important to me because it allows me to use up my stash and make room for more goodies. ...

Going to Mars! Scrapbook layout

Image
Hello Fellow Glitter Enthusiasts! I was so excited to receive my April kit. I combined it with some bits from the shop to create a scrapbook layout.  I've been wanting to document our names going to Mars on the Insight mission last year but none of my supplies inspired me. When I looked through my box, it just hit me and I went looking for our 'tickets.' The April travel themed box plus the space themed supplies in the shop are the perfect combination for documenting this!  I used a neutral 12x12 background and added one of the A4 papers on top of that. To add some more dimension, I added foam dots behind some of the stickers. I used my old fashioned scalloped edge scissors to create the border strips out of the rectangular sticker strips included in the kit. I like that these stickers can be punched and die cut to add more embellishments to your projects. I finished off my layout with some sequins. Glue dots are my favorite for attaching...

3D Suitcase

Image
Hello! Today, I want to share this little suit case I made with the April craft box. This box came at a perfect   time, right before my husband was leaving on a business trip. Every time he goes on a business trip, I make him a card and include some photos. Now that my daughter is older she draws or writes something for him too. This time, I thought I would change it up a bit. I made the DIY suitcase with the pattern included in the April box and decorated some of the tags to go along with it. I'm not expecting him to take a 3D paper item on his trip, so I'm giving him one of the envelopes to keep the tags in. I traced the pattern the old school way by tracing it with a pencil. Then I turned over onto the back of the paper I wanted to use for the suitcase and rubbed the back of the pattern with a stylus. This allowed the carbon to transfer and create a copy of the pattern. Next I cut, scored and folded it. I used a strong adhesive for the tabs ( I lik...

Commercial Palm Trees Review

Image
Hello! I have something a little different today. I recently received a product to review from Commercial Palm Trees . They manufacture fake palm trees for commercial properties. I always wondered how some businesses had birds of paradise plants alive and well long after mine stopped blooming. Now I know! The Commercial Palm Trees website is full of beautiful ideas and landscape designs. Judging by the product I got, I believe that the fake palm trees would look absolutely real. I decided to do this review for a couple reasons, first, I know crafters are people who work in a variety of fields including architecture and interior design. I'm hoping some of you will benefit from me spreading the word about commercial palm trees and I encourage you to check out their beautiful website. Secondly, looking at nature indoors is always so relaxing! I definitely think that it helps me think and work better to be close to plants. I've been wanting to spruce up my craft room wit...

Hello 2018!

Image
Hello and Happy New Year! The end of 2017 was a busy time for sure, I hope we've all recovered by now :) Let me catch you up on what's going on... At the end of 2017, I discovered travelers notebooks when I got one in a freckled fawn warehouse sale box. I had no idea what to do with it, so I watched what a lot of people do in their notebooks. I found some people use it as a wallet and literally their entire life is there (that was kinda scary for me).  Some people use it as a planner or organizer type of thing. I'm NOT those people. All the organization stuff gives me a headache. But I did find that some people use it to scrapbook and do mini layout in theirs. Now, that's something I could see myself doing. This has worked out perfectly! There are many little moments I wanted to document without making an entire 12x12 layout and I had been looking for something paper crafting related to do while watching TV on the couch. Well, I think I found the answer to both of...

Midnight Haunting fun!

Image
Hello! I'm delighted to be guest designing for Pebbles today. I have a fun Halloween layout to share with you today. Halloween is approaching quickly and I still had not scrapped last year. Halloween with a toddler is not very scary, so I was so happy to work with the Midnight Haunting collection. It has a mix of fall, cute and scary elements. This collection can totally work for pumpkin patches, to Halloween and fall activities. See the full layout on the Pebbles blog: http://pebblesincblog.com/2017/09/midnight-haunting-fun-guest-blogger-karla.html

Hello! Here's a couple videos to kick off your weekend.  This one features one photo but there are 2 more hiding behind it. I like to have plenty of room to play with embellishments so I've included extra photos and journaling behind my main photo.  This video features mixed media with heavy gloss gel, it was my first time using it and it's definitely a medium that I want to keep exploring.  I find the quality better on YouTube sometimes  https://m.youtube.com/user/MadebyKarla What are your weekend crafty plans?
